Overview of College of Architecture and Art
TheCollege of Architecture and Art of Hefei University of Technology wasfounded in 1958. It has a long history of running a professional education and hascultivated a large number of outstanding leading talents in architectural design and architectural education. It is known as "Huangpu Military Academy ofArchitecturalEducation in Jianghuai area". Since 1986, the College has been enrolling postgraduates in Architecture Design Theories. Participate in the establishment of a first-class architectural design research institute,forming an educational mechanismthatcombines teaching, scientific research and design.
DisciplineConstruction
The college has six undergraduate majors:Architecture,Urban andRuralPlanning,Landscape Architecture,VisualCommunicationDesign,EnvironmentalDesign, andIndustrialDesign. It has a doctoral degree authorization point of "Architecture", four master's degree authorization points of "Architecture", "Urban andRuralPlanning", "Design" and "Fine Arts".Master's degree authorization point of "Architecture", "Architecture", "Urban and Rural Planning", "Design", "Fine Arts". There are four professional master's degree authorization points: Master of Architecture, Master of Art, Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of Industrial Design Engineering.
Architecture
The discipline was founded in 1958 with a five-year academic system, and it was one of the earlier institutions to set up a major ofarchitecture in China. In 1986, it began to recruit postgraduates of "Architectural Design and Theory" and was approved as a key discipline in Anhui Province in 2001. In 2010, it obtained the first-class discipline authorization point of master's degree in architecture, and was approved as a national specialty construction project in the same year. In 1996, it passed the national professional education evaluation for the first time, and in 2008 and 2015, it obtained the double "excellent" grades in the evaluation. In 2019, it was approved as a national first-class undergraduate professional construction site. In 2021, it was approved as a doctoral degree authorization point for the first-class discipline of architecture.
Urban andRuralPlanning
The discipline was founded in 2001 with a five-year academic system. In 2013, it was renamed fromUrbanPlanning toUrban andRuralPlanning. In 2005, he obtained the authorization point of two disciplines Master's degree in "Urban Planning and Design". In 2011, he obtained the authorization point of master's degree in the first-class discipline of "Urban and Rural Planning". Since 2009, the "1+2" dual master's training program has been jointly carried out with Cardiff University in the UK. In 2017 and 2021, it passed the nationalUrban andRuralPlanning professional evaluation, and in 2021, it was selected as a national first-class undergraduate professional construction site.
LandscapeArchitecture
The discipline was founded in 2009 with a four-year academic system. In 2013, it was renamed as Landscape Architecture from Landscape Architecture. In 2011, he obtained the authorization point of master's degree in the first-class discipline of "Landscape Architecture". In 2020, it was adjusted to the authorized point of master's degree in landscape architecture. It can be traced back to the major ofEnvironmentalDesign established in 1989 and the research direction of "Landscape Planning and Design" set under the authorization of two disciplines Master's Degree in Urban Planning and Design in 2005.
EnvironmentalDesign,VisualCommunicationDesign
Admission of art students.TheEnvironmentalDesign majorwas founded in 1989. In 2002, the master program of Design Art in second-class began to enroll students, and in 2010, the master program of Art was obtained, and in 2011, the master programs of Design Art and Fine Arts were obtained. In 2021,EnvironmentalDesign was approved as a national first-class undergraduate professional construction site.
IndustrialDesign
The predecessor ofIndustrialDesign specialty can be traced back to the pilot education of "Specialized Direction of Product Modeling Design for Mechanical Design Specialty" approved by the Ministry of Education in 1982. In 1999, the undergraduate major ofIndustrialDesign was formally established. In 2003,itobtained the authorization point of master's degree inIndustrialDesign in two disciplines, in 2007,itobtained the authorization point of master's degree in engineering of IndustrialDesign, and in 2021, it was selected as the national first-class undergraduate specialty construction point.
Brief introduction of faculty and students
The college has more than 1,200 full-time undergraduates and more than 400 master's and doctoral students. The college has a high-level faculty with a combination of full-time and part-time jobs, noble ethics, excellent quality, exquisite business and reasonable structure, and more than 60% have senior titles.
Student training
With the goal of "cultivating people with virtue and art", the college has trained a large number of senior talents for design and creative majors such asArchitecture andArt in China. Among all previous graduates, one was selected as a member of the Academician Group of American Institute of Architects, four were selected as one of the top 100 architects in contemporary China, 14 were awarded the Young Architect Award of China Architectural Society, and dozens were selected as survey and design masters in various provinces. Graduates, represented by more than 10 winners of previous national young architects awards, are distributed in major universities and scientific research and design institutions all over the country and grow into professional and technical backbones.
The college attaches great importance to the growth of young teachers and actively explores the training mechanism of young teachers. Through the mentoring of old teachers, young teachers can shorten their adaptation period and integrate into the college as soon as possible; Encourage teachers to actively participate in teaching, scientific research and public welfare work by standardizing assessment and supervision, perfecting incentive mechanism;Organize and mobilize teachers to actively participate in scientific research projects and build a platform to promote the growth of young backbone teachers and academic leaders through seminars, individual guidance, and team declaration; Through interdisciplinary teamwork, teachers' good sense of cooperation and team spirit are cultivated.
